DENVER — With less than six weeks left before Colorado ballots drop, Coloradans for Reproductive Freedom, the coalition spearheading statewide efforts to enshrine abortion rights into the state constitution, is proud to announce our OFFICIAL ballot number is Amendment 79. The previous *proposed* ballot number was 89.

In response to this news, Campaign Director Jessica Grennan issued the following statement:

“We are thrilled to announce that we have received our ballot number and will appear on November’s ballot as Amendment 79. This formal recognition of our initiative as Amendment 79 emphasizes yet again the importance of our efforts to keep the government out of Coloradans’ personal private health decisions. Amendment 79 is essential to ensuring abortion care remains safe from the swipe of a politician’s pen, and we will continue to put everything we have behind passing this amendment in the fall.”

The campaign submitted 225K signatures to qualify for the November ballot, demonstrating the statewide voter support for what is now Amendment 79. The official text of Amendment 79 on the ballot reads:

“A change to the Colorado constitution recognizing the right to abortion, and, in connection therewith, prohibiting the state and local governments from denying, impeding, or discriminating against the exercise of that right, allowing abortion to be a covered service under health insurance plans for Colorado state and local government employees and enrollees in state and local governmental insurance programs.”
